(Taoyuan City, Taiwan) – On August 23 – 25, 2016 four United Arab Emirates (UAE) National Junior golfers competed in the 2016 Asian Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Junior Championship at Sunrise Golf & Country Club in Taiwan. Two teams of one girl and one boy competed in a 72-hole mixed gender team competition. Representing the UAE was Reema Al Heloo and Mohammed Al Hajeri for team one and Tara Al Marzooqi and Mohammed Abdulla Saeed for team two.

Over the 3-day (72-holes) team competition, the UAE Teams gained a great deal of experience while playing aside top teams from Japan, Guam, Papua New Guinea, and Bangladesh.

“The UAE is thankful to have received an invite to participate in this championship. With the course playing off the tips on most holes, the distance was a true test for the UAE players. The results from this event are not important. The most important part is the experience gained. We need our young players to start experiencing championships like this. The more our boys and girls play with the best players in Asia, the more exposure the kids receive from top-level golf,” said Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi, EGF Secretary General & UAE National Team Manager
The first UAE team made up of Reema Al Heloo and Mohammed Al Hajeri finished in 32nd place. The second UAE team made up of Tara Al Marzooqi and Mohammed Abdulla Saeed finshed in 35th place.
Winning the event after a playoff was team South Korea. Finishing in Second Place was Thailand and rounding out the top-three was Chinese Taipei after winning a playoff over the second Thailand team.

(Taoyuan City, Taiwan) – On August 23 – 25, 2016 four United Arab Emirates (UAE) National Junior golfers will compete in the 2016 Asian Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Junior Championship at Sunrise Golf & Country Club in Taiwan. Two girls and two boys will compete in a 72-hole mixed gender team competition. Representing the UAE will be Reema Al Heloo and Tara Al Marzooqi for the girls, and Mohammed Al Hajeri and Mohammed Saeed Abdulla for the boys.

Over 3-days (72-holes), teams will be made up of one male and one female player from each country. Teams will be grouped with a different country each day except the seeded draw for round 3. The team competition will be all stroke play as the First Round will be four-balls, the Second round in foursomes, and the Third Round will be individual gross score.
Coming off a team gold medal at the GCC Ladies Golf Championship in Bahrain, Reema and Tara will be looking to have a strong appearance in Taiwan. Reema also won the gold medal in the individual category in Bahrain.
For the boys, Mohammed Saeed Abdulla has participated in three international events, the Arab Golf Championship in Egypt, the GCC Golf Championship in Oman, and the GCC Golf Championship in Kuwait. A product of the National Junior Development Program (NJDP) the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) is expecting this event to add more experience to Mohammed’s golf resume. Mohammed Al Hajeri has been a rising star for UAE golf. Starting over two years ago, Al Hajeri has seen improvements in all aspects of his game and will be looking to compete with the top players at the championship.
Traveling with the juniors will be Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi, EGF Secretary General & UAE National Team Manager and Greg Holmes, UAE National Team Head Coach.
“The girls had a strong 2015 – 2016 season and this will be a good test for them leading into the 2016 – 2017 season that starts in October. These juniors just completed a two-week summer camp in Germany in preparation for this championship and the upcoming season. The EGF has invested a lot of time into junior golf and our NJDP, by having four players competing in this event is a good example of that,” said Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi.

(Ajman, UAE) – On July 16, 2016 the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) hosted the EGF Summer Swing at Al Zorah Golf Club. With the temperatures reaching 44 degrees Celsius, 66 EGF Members battled the heat to produce some amazing scores. Sponsored by Fairmount Ajman and GolfLan, the event showcased valuable prizes for the golfers to compete for. Coming out on top where male and female duo Keith Nann and Madeleen Grosskopf with an impressive 45 Stableford Points.
Winners of the EGF Summer Swing at Al Zorah Golf Club
Located along the coast of Ajman, the newly opened Al Zorah Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course designed by Nicklaus Design. The course is arranged with flowing dunes and spectacular mangroves to give the golfers a unique experience. With many EGF Members making this event their first round at Al Zorah, the course was in perfect condition. Fast greens and lush fairways left the golfers with an experience that will make them come back for more.
Putting together a fantastic round under the Paris Better Ball Stableford format, Keith Nann and playing partner Madeleen Grosskopf claimed the first place prize. The two players combined for an impressive 45 points, two points better then the second place team.
After a back nine count back, John Geddes and Oliver Fawcett finished in Second Place. Their 21 points on the back nine, combined with a 22 on the front nine gave the pair a total of 43 Stableford Points.
Finishing in Third Place with 43 points was Bob Comb and Anthony Johnson.
There were also “On Course Competitions” that were up for grabs during the event. Madeleen Grosskopf won the Ladies’ Longest Drive Competition on Hole 14. Mark Tupling won the Men’s Longest Drive Competition on Hole 17. Stephen Barker won the Nearest to the Pin Competition on Hole 6.

(Dubai, UAE) – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) National Junior and Lady Golf Squads are set to travel back to Fleesensee, Germany for a 14 day Summer Camp. With the UAE golf season in transition and the warm weather minimizing practice time, the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) is taking this opportunity to travel and train with the National Junior and Lady Squads to prepare for upcoming events.
The UAE National Junior and Ladies Teams at the 2015 Arab Golf Championship in Al Ain
6 Ladies and 8 boys will be training at the Golf & Country Club Fleesensse in Germany. This will be the second year that the squads have traveled to this facility. With a more elite level of training schedule this year, the EGF Coaches and Team Manger are looking forward to a dynamic and productive camp. The facility has four golf courses, one of Europe’s largest practice facilities, a “Golf Arena”, and a PGA Premium Golf School.
The Squads will be working on fine-tuning their technical skills in all aspects of the game to improve their tournament play. The teams will play over 10 rounds of golf while working on course management and tournament preparation. The camp will also include fitness training at the facilities Tennis Club that will help develop the players’ balance, agility, speed, and hand-eye coordination. The Junior and Ladies teams will be training for the upcoming Arab Golf Championships and GGC Golf Championships that will start in October
Traveling with the squads are National Team Head Coach Greg Holmes, Performance Coach David Condon, and EGF Secretary General and Team Manager Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi. Al Shamsi had this to say in regards to the camp, “ we really enjoyed the facility last year and we are excited to go back this year. The teams will be looking to build on last season’s success, especially the ladies who had a strong 2015 – 2016 season. Our focus will be on-course fundamentals and training in order to create competitive teams for future events”.

(Abu Dhabi, UAE) – 60 Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) members from across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) took to the course on June 18, 2016 at Yas Links Abu Dhabi to take part in EGF Summer Swing, sponsored by Rotana Hotels – Centro & Yas Island and GolfLan. Webb Theuns and Patrick McCarthy came out on top after shooting 46 Stableford points.

The Yas Links Abu Dhabi Championship Course is designed by the world-renowned architect Kyle Phillips. Playing at 7,414 yards, Yas Links Abu Dhabi was the ideal venue for the first EGF Summer Swing event of the 2016 summer. Being the number one rated golf course in the Middle East, EGF Members got to experience the value that Yas Links Abu Dhabi brings to the region.
After putting together a fantastic round under the Paris Better Ball Stableford format, Webb Theuns and playing partner Patrick McCarthy claimed the first place prize. The two players combined for an impressive 46 points, three points better then any other pair.
Coming Second Place for the event was Ian Haywood and Damien Ward. The pair finished with 43 points.
The Top 5 positions for the event received prizes. Third, Fourth and Fifth Place pairs all finished with 42 points, which then resulted in a three-way, count back. With the best back nine score and coming in Third Place were Ramesh Nagaraju and Ben Mulvaney. Finishing in Fourth Place was Jacob Hall and Oliver Seldon. The last prizes went to Peter Lane and Jeremiah Kaplan finishing in Fifth Place.
There were also “On Course Competitions” that were up for grabs during the event. With prizes from Rotana Hotels on the line for the Longest Drive Competition, Manny Ostojic and Andrew Smolak crushed their drives and found themselves as the lucky winners. Winning the final prize, was Sami Al Zarooni on the Nearest to the Pin competition.

(Dubai, UAE) – On May 27-28, 2016 the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) held the 2016 EGF Order of Merit Championship at Jumeirah Golf Estates. This prestigious event hosted over 50 elite amateur golfers across three different divisions.
5 – 2016 Emirates Golf Federation Order of Merit Champions
The EGF Order of Merit Championship had representing divisions for Men, Ladies’ and Juniors’. The Championship was played over a two day, 36-hole, Strokeplay format, on the Earth and Fire Courses at Jumeirah Golf Estates. The field was composed of the top amateur golfers in each division that supported and competed in the 2015 – 2016 EGF Order of Merit Season.
Tiago Lobo
18 year-old, Tiago Lobo from Abu Dhabi Golf Club was the Champion of the Men’s Division. After shooting a 73 (one-over-par) first round, Lobo had a two shot lead going into the final round. With a one-under-par, 71 in the second round, Lobo sealed the victory with a Championship total of 144, even-par. Making the transition into the Men’s Division this year, Lobo is the first player to win the Junior Division followed by winning the Men’s Division the next year at the EGF Order of Merit Championship.
Finishing as the Runner-Up was Men’s Order of Merit Season winner Christofer Rahm. Playing at his home club Rahm had rounds of 78 – 68 for a Championship total of 146m two-over-par. Taking Third Place was Bilbo Perrot with rounds of 76 – 72 for a Championship total of 148.
Kim Chiang
Leading the way in the Ladies Division was 15 year-old Kim Chiang. Playing out of the Arabian Ranches Golf Club Kim defended her title with rounds of 66 – 79. Kim’s first round of 66 (six-under-par) on the Earth Course set a new course record at Jumeirah Golf Estates. Kim has now set two course records while playing the EGF Order of Merit Championship. With a Championship total of 145 (one-over-par) Kim won by two strokes.
After a back nine, last six-hole count back, Anastasia Bakal was the Runner-Up in the Ladies Division. Playing out of the Els Club, Anastasia shot rounds 76 – 71 for a 147 Championship total. Rounding out the top-three, coming in Third Place was Alison Muirhead. Representing the Jumeirah Golf Estates and winning the Ladies Order of Merit Season, Alison shot rounds of 76 – 71 for a Championship total of 147.
Zubair Firdaus
The Junior Division was played with the Girls and Boys golfers combined. This division was full of talent as Zubair Firdaus from Jumeirah Golf Estates was the 2016 Champion. Firdaus shot an EGF Order Merit Championship record with rounds of 72 – 67. His Championship total of 139, five-under-par, is the lowest 36-hole score ever recorded at an EGF Order of Merit Championship. Firdaus won by 12 strokes.
The Runner-Up in the Junior Division was Aryaan Kumar. Kumar fired rounds of 75 – 76 for a Championship total of 151. Winning the Third Place prize was Tariq El Chaib. Tariq had rounds 85 – 71 for a Championship total of 156.
The EGF is proud to announce that the winner of the Men’s Order of Merit Season (Christofer Rahm) and the winner of the Ladies Gross Order of Merit Season (Alison Muirhead) along with the winners of the Men’s (Tiago Lobo) and Ladies (Kim Chiang) Divisions from this weekend’s Championship will be traveling to the Singha Thailand Amateur Golf Championship at the end of August.
After the tournament the EGF hosted an award ceremony where the winners of the EGF Order of Merit Championship and the winners of the EGF Order of Merit Season received their well-deserved prizes. (Dubai, UAE) – Over the course of the 2015 – 2016 Golf Season the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) and Golf DXB have created a partnership with the goal to introducing the game of golf to United Arab Emirates (UAE) Nationals. The incentive has been an enormous success in which approximately 3,000 UAE National children have been introduced to the game through in school taster sessions.

Drawing from the school taster sessions a surge of interest has led to the establishment of 5 classes (golf lessons) per week at The Track, Meydan Golf. These classes are exclusively for UAE Nationals, which are very well attended throughout the week. The classes’ focus on fundamental athletic movements and skill based activities that develop speed, balance, flexibility, stability and awareness. The lessons are than focused more on golf instruction with long game, putting and specific aspects of short game drills.
Based on the accomplishments of the introductory classes, the EGF and Golf DXB are excited to announce that we will be expanding on this season’s success with the introduction of the EGF National Junior Development Program (NJDP) Foundation Squad. This Foundation Squad has been formed on the basis of the dedication and development within the game of golf. The children on the Foundation Squad have shown tremendous enthusiasm, commitment, and focus for the game and have made great strides in the last 8 months.The group of 15 hand selected children will receive, technical instruction, golf specific fitness as well as on course playing lessons on a weekly basis.
Golf DXB PGA Golf Professional, Aaron Williams, is leading this group. Aaron is working closely with the UAE National Team coaches, David Condon and Greg Holmes to monitor the progress of these talented youngsters as they progress through the EGF National Team and Development programs.
On the Foundation Squad Aaron Williams said, “It has been very rewarding to see a group of beginners develop so quickly and really get hooked onto the game. From here we will look to introduce the players to the full golf course, getting competent at Par 3 length and then look to move to modified tees. Tuition wise, we will be keeping a close eye on set up fundamentals whilst gradually introducing work on swing mechanics and golf specific fitness that are suited to the individuals within the group.”
Greg Holmes, UAE Nationals Team Head Coach said, “The introduction of the Foundation Squad is another positive step taken by the EGF. With the help of Golf DXB we are reaching goals and seeing the interest of golf growing amongst UAE Nationals. This Foundation Squad is a great way to award the children who are dedicated and this will add to the process of developing a strong National Team”.
Looking forward, the EGF and Golf DXB will continue to introduce the game at a grass roots level through schools. These school visits are sparking interest for children to get involved in the introductory classes. Both organizations are very excited about the introduction of The Foundation Squad, and the pathway to elite performance that has been created.

(Dubai, UAE) – The Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) Order of Merit (OOM) final results have been calculated. Now, top adult and junior amateur golfers across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have less than a week to prepare for the EGF OOM Championship.
Winners of the 2014 – 2015 EGF Order of Merit Season and Championship
The EGF OOM Championship is a two-day event that will take place on May 27-28, 2016 at Jumeriah Golf Estates (Earth & Fire Course). This event hosted by EGF, will have representing divisions for Men, Ladies, and Junior golfers. The fields will be composed of the top golfers from Men’s and Ladies Divisions and top placed Juniors in OOM events all season long.
The EGF OOM Men’s Division, played in a Gross format, was composed of 13 events, starting on October 3, 2015 and ending on May 7, 2016. These two-day, 36-hole, events proved to deliver a test for every golfer participating.
Christopher Rahm playing out of the Jumeriah Golf Estates was the 2015 – 2016 EGF OOM Men’s Division Champion. With 239.9 points, Rahm is a strong favorite going into this year’s EGF OOM Championship. Rahm had four First Place finishes and four Top Five finished out of the 10 events that he competed in.
Finishing as the Runner-Up in the EGF OOM Men’s Division was Steve Kelbrick. Representing the Jumeriah Golf Estates, Kelbrick had a total of 205 points for the season. Taking the Third Place position was Tiago Lobo playing out of the Abu Dhabi Golf Club with 199.55 points.
In the EGF OOM Ladies’ Division there are two different scoring categories, Gross and Net. The Net category includes the calculation of the golfers handicap. The ladies started the season on October 16, 2015 and finished on April 30, 2016. There were a total of 11, one-day, 18-hole, events throughout the season.
Taking the top honors of the EGF OOM Ladies Gross Division was Alison Muirhead from Jumeriah Golf Estates. Alison had a total of 234 points. Alison played in 9 events, with four First Place finishes and five other Top Five finishes. Alison also finished as the Runner-Up in the Net Category with 147 points. Look for Alison to have a big impact at the EGF OOM Championship, as she will be playing on her home course.
Anastasia Bakal, playing out of The Els Club, took the Runner-Up position in the Gross category with 204 points. Wrapping up the Top Three spots and placing Third in the Ladies Gross Category was Madeleen Grosskopf playing out of Al Badia Golf Club. Madeleen had 152 Gross Points.
In the Ladies Net Category, Sakura Kawakami from Al Ain Equestrian Shooting & Golf Club was the EGF OOM Season winner with 170.3. The Third Place prize went to Glory Xavier who plays out of the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. Glory had 137 points.
The EGF OOM Junior Divisions consists of two divisions and two categories for each division. Both, Boys and Girls Junior Divisions had a Gross and Net Category. The season started on October 10, 2015 and ended on April 30, 2016. Each division was played over a total of 10, one-day, 18-hole, tournaments.
Winning the EGF OOM Boys Gross Division was Aryan Chorida playing out of the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. Chordia played in all 10 events with one First Place finish and five Top Five finishes. Chorida finished with a total of 215.3 points.
Zubair Bin Mohammed Firdaus, playing out of Jumeriah Golf Estates, finished as the Runner-Up with 197.8 points. Finishing in Third Place was Aryaan Kumar who is also from Jumeriah Golf Estates. Kumar had 156.8 points.
In the EGF OOM Boys Net Division, Vijayesh Haridas, playing out of Al Badia Golf Club, was the Champion with a total of 170.5. The Runner-Up was Ahmed Ashfaq representing the Emirates Golf Federation. Ahmed had 152 points. Finishing in Third Place for the Net Category was Hoshi Yadav from The Els Club with 131.5 points.
With the same format in the EGF OOM Girls Divisions, Da Eun Jung was the Champion of the Gross Category and Net Category. Da Eun Jung had 241.5 points in the Gross Category and 228 points in the Net Category. Da Eun Jung plays out the Abu Dhabi City Golf Club.
Chantel El-Chaib, playing out of Abu Dhabi Golf Club, finished as the Runner-Up in the Gross Category with a total of 190.5 points.
Finishing in Third Place in the Gross Category and Net Category was Eshna Bhargava, from the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. Eshna finished with 183.5 points in the Gross Category and 173.5 points in the Net Category.
Anushka Bhargava, from Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club finished as the Runner-Up in the Net Category with 182 points.

(Dubai, UAE) – The Emirates Golf Club hosted the 2016 Dubai Duty Free UAE Nationals Cup supported by the Emirates Golf Federation. Forty-four players enjoyed the challenge of the Faldo Course along with the hospitality of sponsors Dubai Duty Free.
Dubai Duty Free’s Senior Vice President- IT & Logistics, Ramesh Cidambi along with Darwish Al Qubaisi – Board Member of the Emirates Golf Federation and Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi – Secretary General of the Emirates Golf Federation, presents the trophy to Saeed Al Balooshi, overall winner of the 22nd Dubai Duty Free UAE Nationals Cup.
Three golfers tied on 38 points in the gents division. Saeed Al Balooshi was the 2016 Gents Champion Saeed Al Balooshi after a card count back. The first runner up also with 38 points was Rashid Al Emadi. Also with 38 points but finishing as 2nd runner up was Faisal Al Sayegh.
Winning the best gross prize was Khalid Yousuf with score of 4 over par 76.
The Ladies Champion with a score of 31 points was Hamda Al Suwaidi and the Boys Champion was Obaid Al Heloo with another superb score of 38 points.

The on course prizes were won by Omar Thabit for the nearest to pin on hole number 8 and the longest drive on hole 16 was won by Khalifa Al Masaood.

(Ajman, UAE) – On Saturday April 27, 2016 the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) in association with the Ajman Tourism Department hosted an Emirati Golf Day at Al Zorah Golf Club. In effort to raise awareness and promote golf in Ajman and the Northern Emirates Al Zorah Golf Club opened their facilities to all Emiratis that wanted to participate in a fun interactive afternoon of golf.

Over 40 UAE National beginners turned up for full afternoon of golf activities that included a 6-hole mini putt course, to one-on-one training lessons with EGF and Al Zorah Professional Golf Coaches.
Rashid Al Jarwan, EGF Board Member, was in attendance and had this to say about the incentive. “This was a terrific afternoon. For us to bring together so many UAE National kids and families at the golf course is a great accomplishment by Al Zorah and the EGF. With the assistance of the Ajman Tourism Department we are eager to see the development of golf in Ajman. The Federation is focused on the continued growth of golf in the Emirati community and this is a true demonstration of that commitment”.
At the beginning of this month the EGF launched the National Junior Development Program (NJDP) at Al Zorah Golf Club and due to the hard work of their Pros and Administration the club has produced 5 weeks of successful lessons seeing over 50 kids with 20 kids that have registered for weekly lessons.
Martin Dewhurst, PGA Professional and leading the charge for the NJDP at Al Zorah had this to say about the newly adapted program, “Our goal is to try and attract as many Emiratis from Ajman, Sharjah and Um Al Quain as possible to experience golf at the beautiful AZGC. We are looking forward to starting the process of the NJDP. We look to develop the juniors making them the best players that they can be, whilst having players from our region representing the UAE internationally.”
