United Arab Emirates Ladies and Junior National Golf Teams Set to Compete in GCC Golf Tournament in Muscat, Oman

Muscat, Oman – From December 25-28, 2023, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ladies and Junior National Golf Teams will embark on a journey to Muscat, Oman, to participate in the highly anticipated GCC Golf Tournament. This distinguished event will feature representation from 5 GCC countries, with a total of 45 players showcasing their skills on the renowned grounds of the Ghala Golf Club.

2023 GCC Golf Championship – Oman – UAE Ladies and Junior National Teams

Hosted by the Oman Golf Association, the Ladies and Junior GCC Golf Tournament will hold three distinctive divisions. A total of five countries will field both team and individual players in the Ladies’ and Boys’ divisions, with age categories of 16 and under, and 13 and under.

Representing the UAE during the championships, the 2023 GCC Golf Tournament will see the participation of three different |UAE national golf teams. 2023 will mark the 6th edition of the GCC Ladies Tournament and the 7th year of competition for Juniors/Boys aged 16 & and 13 and under.

The UAE Ladies National Team will be represented by players Intissar Rich, Alia Alemadi, and Aasiya Saleem in the GCC Ladies Tournament. In the Highly competitive division, the Junior Boys 16 & Under Team will consist of Rashid Al Naqbi, Abdullah Kalbat, and Mohammad Thabet.

The Boys 13 & Under Team, comprising Abdullah Darwish and Abdullah Salmeen, will bring their skills to the fore in the 13 & Under Division, which will be contested over two rounds. Meanwhile, the boys’ 16 and under and Ladies’ divisions will unfold over three rounds, culminating in the recognition of Individual and Team winners in each division.

The Team Category will be determined by the top two gross scores, out of three players each round, while the Individual Category will be scored based on the best individual gross score from each division.

Traveling with the teams are EGF Vice Chairmen General Abdullah Alhashmi, Khaled Al Shamsi, and Fayez Bajbouj, along with National Team Coaches Samir Walline and April Varney.

General Abdullah Alhashmi, EGF Vice Chairman, expressed his optimism, stating, “This is a golden opportunity for the EGF and UAE golf to showcase the improvements in our programs. Over the past 18 months, the EGF has diligently worked to provide UAE players with the platform to exhibit their talents. These dedicated individuals have undergone rigorous training, and we anticipate commendable results.”
