Tunisia will host the 41st edition of the Arab Golf Championships from Thursday, December 1 to Sunday, December 4, 2022, organized by the Tunisian Golf Federation, under the leadership of the Arab Golf Federation. The competitions will take place at Golf la Cigale in Tabarka.
48 golfers representing 13 Arab countries will take part in this 41st edition, namely, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Palestine, and the host country Tunisia.
This is the fourth time that Tunisia has hosted these championships since the creation of the Tunisian Golf Federation in 1992. After Citrus Hammamet in 2010, El Kantaoui Hammam Sousse in 2015, and The Residence Gammarth in 2018, it will therefore be the turn of la Cigale Tabarka to welcome the best Arab golfers in an edition that promises to be both promising and unprecedented.
The Championship is run over four rounds, the best three scores in a team of four are counted toward each round. Individual scores of players from each country are also recognized for individual Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals.
Inaugurated in 1992, La Cigale Tabarka Golf was designed by the Californian architect Ronald Fream. This 18-hole course, both hilly, in the forest, and on the beach, will impress you with the richness of the landscapes. The designs of the holes change very frequently and which makes the golfer have several strategies of play. Developed on an area of 110 hectares of eucalyptus forest, pines, and oaks, the golf overlooks the sea with impressive views.
Director General of the Emirates Golf Federation, Akram Skaik had this to say heading into the championship. “It has been an important year for the Emirates Golf Federation, and for the UAE National Golf Program. This championship will be a celebration of not only the UAE program but the work that the Arab Nations have put into the sport of golf over the past 12 months.
I’d like to congratulate the Tunisian Golf Federation on hosting this year’s championship, and we look forward to the future for many more successful events within the region.”
