The Nomura Cup, also known as the APGC Team Championship, is a biennial amateur team golf championship for men. Starting in 1963, the 2022 edition of the APGC Team Championship will host 16 different countries. The tournament is held over four days with 18 holes of stroke play on each day, the best two daily rounds counting for the team score. The tournament has been dominated by Australia, who have won the Cup 10 times, and Japan, who are seven-time winners. This event also has an individual champion.

The 29th Nomura Cup will be played on the Manila Southwoods Golf & Country Club, Masters Course which is a Jack Nicklaus signature championship course. Arguably the premier championship course in the Philippines, it has been a design strategy punctuated by multiple creek crossings and lakes. The Club is located to the south of Manila, in the city of Carmona and the lush province of Cavite.

“It is important to give our young generation of golfers the opportunity and experience to play in these Championships, said Vice Chairman of the EGF, General Abdullah Alhashmi.

“These players are our future. With the continued support of the UAE Sport Authorities and Councils, the EGF will push our players to reach the next level of their golfing careers. This is not only a reflection of the development but also the vision of the Federation in supporting the youth in UAE golf”, General Alhashmi added.

Captained by UAE National Golf Coach, Samir Wallani, this is the first International Championship that 16-year-olds Mohammed, Rashid, and Abdalla will be competing in.  Accompanying the team will also be the Vice Chairman of the EGF, General Abdullah Alhashmi, and Director General, Akram Skaik.

Team UAE starts the first round tomorrow (November 15th) with A. Al Suwaidi teeing off at 9:19, M. Skaik will follow at 9:30, and R. Al Jassmy will anchor the team starting at 9:41. To follow the action and Team UAE follow the Emirates Golf Federation on social media.
