UAE Ladies Take Silver at Pan Arab Golf Championships
Boys 15 & Under Win Bronze
(Hammamet Sud, Tunisia) – On October 6-8 2022, the Tunisian Golf Federation hosted the 2022 Ladies and Junior Pan Arab Golf Championships at Citrus Golf Club. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Lady’s Team took the Silver Medal and the 15 & Under squad won the Bronze Medal.
Alia Al Emadi led the way for the ladies team that took home the overall team Silver Medal. Alia fired rounds of 83-78-77 for a championship total of 238. Alia also won the Silver Medal in the individual category. Hamda Al Suwaidi was the UAE’s second player shooting rounds 87-86-87. Tunisia won the Gold Medal and Egypt won the Bronze Medal in the Ladies Team division.
Sara Ali competed in the Girls 15 & Under individual category finishing in Fourth Place with rounds 79-85-83 for a 247 total, just three shots back from receiving a medal.
Representing the Bronze Winning 15 & Under UAE Team were Rashed Al Naqbi, Abdulla Kalbat, and Sultan Al Jassmy. The boys were only two shots back from Team Egypt who received the Silver Medal. Tunisia won the Gold Medal in the 15 & Under division.
Competing in the UAE 18 & Under division and placing fourth in the team category were Rashid Al Jassmy, Abdulla Al Suwaidi, and Mohammed Skaik. Rashid Al Jassmy had a quality championship with rounds of 78-78-75 for a 231 total, good enough to finish tied in Fourth Place only one shot back from receiving a medal. Tunisia won the team Gold, Oman won the Silver, and Egypt won the Bronze in the team category.
Playing in his first-ever international championship Abdulla Darwish led the way for the UAE 13 & Under Team. Abdulla Darwish shot rounds 82 and 80. Also playing for the UAE 13 & Under Team were Humaid Al Suwaidi and Abdulla Salmeen. The UAE 13 & Under Team finished in Fourth Place. Jordan won the Gold, Tunisia won the Silver, and Egypt won the Bronze in the team category.
Moving forward the teams and players will focus on playing the Emirates Golf Federation Order of Merit events. Some of these players will travel and compete in World Amateur Golf Ranking events in order to continue to develop their game.
