GUPTA MASTERS MEYDAN TO CLAIM AGMC JUNIOR OPEN TITLE
(Dubai, UAE) – Saturday 4th March 2017 saw 42 of the region’s most promising talents compete at the Troon managed Meydan Golf for the AGMC Junior Open.
It was an early start for Arjun Gupta, whose round commenced at 7:06am. However, this did not phase the current #5 on the Emirates Golf Federation Junior Order of Merit. Gupta began his round with a birdie and followed this with additional birdies on the 3rd and 9th to make the turn at 3 under par.
Two more birdies were made on the 10th and 18th, which enabled Arjun to sign for a very impressive 67 and take the early Club House lead on 5 under par. With three of the top four Junior’s on the Order of Merit still on the Golf Course, it was a tense wait.
Joshua Hill came the closest to catching Arjun. With a round that consisted of 4 birdies, 2 bogies and 12 pars, a 2 under par 70 proved not to be enough and the 2017 AGMC Junior Open Champion was confirmed. Other notable rounds came from ranked #3 Toby Bishop and #9 Ben Zietari, who were the only two other competitors to finish under par for the event, both closing with rounds of 71, one under par.
In the Nett Competition, Gavin Ingram put together a sensational round of Gross 76, Nett 62, to take the Overall Nett Prize by four strokes from UAE National Reema al Heloo. Nearest The Pin on Hole 6 went to Farris Hassan and the Longest Drive on Hole 9 was won by John Burki.
Phil Dobson, Golf Operations Manager at Meydan Golf thanked the Event Sponsor AGMC and Prize Sponsor Rivoli for their continued support at the facility and wished all Junior’s the best of luck for the remainder of the Season.
The next event to be hosted at Meydan Golf is the AGMC Men’s Open, which takes place on the 14th and 15th of April 2017.
