8 UAE Nationals Ready for the Faldo Series in Al Ain

(Al Ain, UAE) – On March 28-30, 2016 eight United Arab Emirates (UAE) National Golf Team members will compete in 2016 Faldo Series supported by the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF). This 54-hole, three-day, stroke play event will take place at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shoot & Golf Club. With an international field of 58 players, spreading over five divisions, this event will surely give junior golfers the opportunity to show off their talents.

Sir Nick Faldo had this to say about the event, “One of the main objectives of the Faldo Series is to provide opportunities for young aspiring golfers. Last year we saw 27 different nationalities including Emirati at this event. We are looking forward to the growth of the event this year. We remain focused on the development of the Faldo Series globally and introducing the lessons and opportunity of this sport”.

Representing the UAE in the Boys Under 21 Division will be Abdulla Al Qubaisi. Abdulla played in this event last year and had a strong showing. This year he will be looking for nothing less than a top three finish.

Playing in the Boys Under 18 Division will be Saeed Al Balooshi. Saeed has been playing on the UAE National Team for many of years and has a good deal on international golf experience.

The UAE will have four players in the Boys Under 16 Division. Leading the way for the UAE will be Mahmood Skaik. Mahmood is the oldest and have most experience out of the bunch. The second representative will be Mohammed Abdulla Saeed, followed by Rashid Al Emadi. Lastly, Obaid Al Heloo will be the youngest player for the UAE. At the age of 11, Obaid will be gathering a great deal of experience this week.

The last division that the UAE will compete in is the Girls Under 16 Division. Tara Al Mazooqi and Reema Al Heloo, whom are coming off a Gold Medal at the Ladies GCC Golf Championships, will look to continue their strong run this season. Tara and Reema are the present and future of UAE Ladies Golf.

Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi, EGF Secretary General said this about the UAE players and supporting the event, “The Faldo Series is a great opportunity not only for our players but for all junior golfers in the UAE and region. To have a junior event in the UAE that counts toward the World Amateur Rankings is important for the EGF and allows players to showcase their skills on an international stage. Our players are young for their divisions but this will be a good learning experience for them. It is a true testament of the National Team Development to have eight players playing this year after only have one last year”.
