Vice Captain Vipen Sethi Leads the Way

(Dubai, UAE) – The season is nearly upon us as the members of Emirates Golf Club attempt to qualify for this year’s Men’s OMEGA Singles Match Play Championship. There was plenty to play for with 16 spots in each division available during this stableford qualifier.

In the A division (Hcp 0-10) it was the new Vice Captain Vipen Sethi who lead the qualifying with a fantastic 39 points, the best score of the day across the whole field. Following closely on 38 points were Qamar Rasheed and Tej Chhabra. It was the back 9 for Rasheed that was enough to claim second place with Chhabra in third. In the A division a score of 32 points was good enough to guarantee qualification along with three players on 31 points who sneaked in with a better back 9.

In the B division (Hcp 11-24) it was Amresh Sangani who won first place with a score of 37 points. Followed by Luiz Bertuol in second place on 36 points. A further point adrift was Arun Khehar on 35. In this division scoring 29 points or better was enough to secure qualification to the Match Play stages.

Congratulations to those already in the hat for this year’s Omega Singles Match Play, the next and final opportunity to qualify will be by playing in the monthly medal on the 23rd of October.
